2 BJ40 with "God Winch", 1 Def 110 Warn8274, Lr 90 Warn 9500 and "Rojak" d modified Lr with PTO. We were tempted by "Berani ka" trip in the FB by Sydney. D last club trip to Selancar are way back in 2005 i think. Tis is a good interact btw Serdang/lrom we had a fantastic winching adventure. The two BJ managed to proceed on while the 3 lr decided to turn back as "Rojak" broke the winch while Luke d def had a clutch bearing problem. Since there's another steep slope wider gully to winch we decided to save the car due to long distance driving back and waited for the two BJ camping further out. Fan Koi Yin and Sydney are both Serdang and lr members as well. We will see more actions in future trips.

The Last of Telemong
By Alyna Tai

Those that miss out Telemong would never see the Beautiful falls again. Warning !!! Do not camp at the Island though it looks like Paradise.

Lrom weekend trips was a big dissapointment, we sense something wrong as we past by the Sg Perdak village. We thought is normal since the place is always flooded.

As we entered the junction to the falls we notice that place seems to be strange. Lead by Rate@Atek he advised not to camp there after trekking down to check the campsite out. We back track proceed to 2nd campsite named Horse Shoe camp. To our surprise the horse camp was gone and like a war zone place with all the trees gone. The river that flows on the far side is blocked by unwanted logs and the river now diverts to another side after bursting the side of the bank. That's explained all the sands down at the falls.

FYI the Island campsite is not advisable as these whole lots of logs and sand will wash down to the falls when it rains heavily upstream. The sign board erected near the entrance stated as "Hutan Simpanan Kekal" we are surprise at the the massive logging going on and proceed further to check it out. The tracks keep going endlessly towards G.Hantu. Looks like logging been going on since middle of last year. There goes another beautiful place.

Larut Hill Challenge 2010
By Alyna Tai

See how d Disco goes down side way wth no marshals check if the driver and co driver are OK before bringing d recovery car. These recovery Marshals are newbies with no experience and they don't want to get dirty in d mud pool so they were winching from a wrong angle. D damaged is not a big problem but d way things are running is not good for a International event. Marshals need to be brief wht's their task and recovery team need some experience b4 giving them d job as recovery. The recovery car also have problem with the winch cable and winching without a glove throughout. Further team Disco cannot further play bec d marshals took d score card and run away to other SS. D event need to postmortem their hic cup as this year we see more prepared rally car in d event.

The last convoy of 4 cars left KL late evening and was joined by a mysterious enthusiast with a Black tinted Landrover who convoy with us to Kg Raja. He left us upon reaching Kg Raja after introducing himself as Asri frm Cheras. We reached our campsite by midnight and continue to camp there not wanting to move to Kg Tahu due to the continous rain there. The trip ended with some going for the Rafflesia trekking adventure. Everyone reaches home safely after a long traffic jam along the North South highway.

Lrom Adventure to the South
By Alyna Tai

D adventure continue . This is most Disgusting, as rubbish is everywhere in this Forest Reserve. Why Malaysian Never learn to love their Forest and we hope these people stop all illegal hunting. For information the signboard said all caught for illegal hunting will be charge under ISA.

LROM Adventure to the South
By

A weekend of fun and trill in Sg. Mas and Sg Melantai. 7 vehicles from various make Range Rover, Def 110, Def 90 , Disco,lC, Hilux and a Triton. We arrived early morning at the entrance of the Sg Mas and was greeted by various govt Dept and NGO who is manning the jungle. We would like to Thanks all department involved esp Forestry of Kahang 28 for approving our permit to enter the jungle of Forest Reserve. To all the below Department for their co operation. Terima Kasih.
1 Jabatan Hutan Kahang 28
2.Jabatan Penghilitan, Mersing
3.PDRM Mersing
4.Kulim Guard Sdn.Bhd.
6.Wildlife Conservation Society
7.other NGO's.
We took 7 hours to reach our campsite going through more than 16 bridges and gaps without much work as all the bridges are still intact. The first thing that we saw along the trail is the rubbish everywhere esp at the campsite of Sg. Melantai. We have to camp on the track as the sides are full of rubbish. The next day we drove around the track lead by Rate who is familiar with the trail. We met a group of off roaders (4 vehicle ) from Beko Direction. They are not sure where they are heading and when we ask if they have a permit to enter they said no. The best is to back track after seeing they have kids and one of their cars is on 2 wheels advised Rate. Further they have guns in their car that are not permitted. Malaysian will never learn or even read papers. The illegal hunting is not allowed esp in a Forest Reserve.

We contimued with our driving and come across another 5 4WD in the Hulu Mas area There's a toyota with Tmn. Negara sticker and these off roaders are from Kota Tinggi. We left after saying hello. We continue with our driving to the moutain where we came a upon a opening area where old markers is everywhere. It was a Special Stage area of International Rainforest Challenge which held there 2009. Their poles, marker, RFC SS board , mineral bottles are everywhere. We clear off some as it too tedious to collect back all the rubbish thrown there.
The boys head back to the campsite for swimming after clearing much of rubbish that we could take out. Getting out the track was quiet easy only 5 hrs and we were lucky to escape the heavy thunderstorm that hit after we clear all the obstacles. Thank you to all for the great adventure in Johore.

Gunung Ais III 2010
By Alyna Tai

Every Experience is Unique. This is the third time the lrom been to G.Ais and each time we have a different kind of experience. With the dry weather it was so much easier for us cos as before we were all prepared for the worse. This time we have a smaller group as the 5 non members which supposed to join us decided to go earlier and went a different way instead. We noticed some tyres mark but only counted 3 cars ahead of us then as we go further we noticed some tyres mark that turns into a wrong direction to another campsite. We were very sure it was not the 5 cars ahead of us as soon as we meet up two Jeep and a suzuki. They were working on their car and some were cooking Maggi. I told them to pick up their wrappers they throw in the bushes. Very annoyed too as one of them were with a shot gun. They did mumble they afraid there will be Tigers in the jungle. All went well as we reach our campsite earlier and had the best of our Labour Day holidays.

Range Rover Rescues in RFC 2009
By Alyna Tai

A calls received at 11pm to bring down spares for a broken dry shalft for Yamin's Range Rover. His car broke down while going into camp 2 Sg Mas. We drove down after getting all the parts at 2am and reaching there 5.40am. After refueling and a good breakfast in Kahang we head straight into the abandoned car which is about 43 km esy off roading into the National Park. All was done by lunch time and head to the camp 2 of RFC as insisted by Yamin to support his injured vehicle by now is only 3 wheel. We left immediately the next morning for KL. Two other cars also left with us in one convoy in case it rains as the newly open track could spell trouble. The dusty track could become hell for all. 40 over bridges was build for a good competition in RFC with 30 over SS this year in the National Park.

Lrom off Road Clinic - Tanjung Malim, 21-22nd, Nov 09
S1, 3 Def110, 3 Def90, 1 RR, 1 Pajero and a Hilux. There's no stopping us from going to this trip even it was a rainny season. Azuin@Edy friends of lrom came despite having slight fever the day before. He don't want to miss this family trip that he was looking forward to. Two other new member also joined us for the first time together with a friend. While Hong came in with his friends Hilux to introduce them to lrom. The off road clinic did not start until the next day due to the non stop rain. A sea saw bridge was built with Satren and Nabil giving a hand for the bridge simulation. Yamin gave a short brief on waste management esp for the new members on rubbish.
The off road ended early and those interested to go hardcore continue up to the waterfall with Rambeer's Lr and Dusty driven by Atek. Kumar joined us later with Siva's Def 90.
A big Thank you to Shaharul, Yamin , members and friends for supporting the lrom.

Telemong-Landrovers affairs
By Alyna Tai

A private trip by Shah, Xmen and Blackhawk to test out Durai's new SIII to Telemong last weekend. It turns out to be a "pesta" as USJ came in 4 cars and flipped one during their early morning drive 1.30am. We were awaken hearing the commotions thinking a car roll down ravine but due to the river swell we could do nothing to cross over to help. They were signalling SOS with torch. Atek and boys wanted to swim across which i don't agreed as the water was too swift. They came in the heavy rain (dangerous drive) in the slippery downhill with too much drinking too. Then came the morning another 4 cars from Bera4x4 newbies lead by their so called leader. They also flipped one car a Pajero that was winch out by Satren and atek. After getting them out they drove to campsite for picnic and drove out leaving their flipped car again stalled in the middle of track. The rest went off without thinking of others. These kind of irresponsible people should be condemned. We tried to winch the abandon car to the side not knowing the car is without brakes and the car bang into our def causing much damage. The Pajero boy again came back to seek for help to tow his car out to the junction as he walked in to repair with a mechanic. This guy don’t even have a strap or shackle so having no choice atek , Kumar, Shah, Durai and friends tow him out in Kumar’s car. The boy wanted to join Lrom club but was rejected by Atek and he got a good long lecture too. Do not drink and drive and be responsible of the people u bring into off roading. Don't cause inconvenience and risking other peoples life.

LROM-MERDEKA CHARITY 4X4 RUN 2009
By Alyna Tai

Total of 11 cars - trotting the Tmn Negara for a night drive experience arriving at campsite of Sg Tekai at 3.30am. An early starts the next day gave us a bonus to have our picnic in Ulu Tembeling and a short cut through the village before arriving at our 2nd campsite of Kg Bantal. The convoy also stop at the Mat Daling village rambutan trees for a feast of the fruits before proceeding to the campsite in Kg Bantal. Convoy were given a choice to camp near the river or the super comfort of golf course camp. Most opts for the river under the scotching sun which later they change their mind. I hope everyone have a good time under the stars beside the Tembeling river. This is one of the longest off road trial we could find in M'sia so far. A special thanks to our friend the Ford family of Rizal all the way from Seremban, LC and Toyota group. The Toyota group - Sebastian, Loo, Eric, Hee and Billy Sim for the support. We had a great time together.

The first part was easy as a breeze but came the afternoon rain and those 4X4s
without mud tires had to struggle on the hill climb. One bike went down 20 feet ravine when going down hill and lost control.Luckily the rider was not injured and the bike had to be winched up and there was no damage as well. After some the recovery ,the convoy proceeded through the slippery track in the rain and eventually we arrive at the river crossing of almost 3 feet deep.We were suppose to swim there but the water was not clean and thought of camping there and the altitude is only 18 meter and we decided to camp in the training camp at Pantai Hiburan which was prearrange by the organizer and all the 4X4s decided to set camp just outside the training as we are not allowed to drive in to the campsite.
We broke camp the next morning and 4 vehicles went to the Endow Rompin National park and swam at the waterfall and after having seafood lunch in Kuala Rompin,we took a slow drive home with 3 Suzuki following me trough Muazam Shah,Bahau,Titi (where we had our dinner) and head towards Ulu Langat
and K.L.

Kuala Rompin
By Alyna Tai

This is a Seafood haven for seafood lovers. Take a good twist and turn drive down Rompin for a weekend for work and holiday recently. Is worth driving down to Rompin for a good relaxing weekend and ended up "pokai" of cos if u eat too much but is much cheaper then staying in KL.

Super SUV
By Alyna Tai

Super SUV - The rich and famous. Would u drive a RM800,000 or more than half a million ringgit SUV car in Jungle adventure. U are wrong!! They dare and they make a good adventure drive through the 207 km off road through the National park of Pahang with a 6 stars one night camping besides the famous Sg Tembeling in the wild. They even have to go though a adventure of driving on a slippery down and uphill during a drizzle on the first day upon arriving. Chcek this out.

Disco and Range Rover
By Alyna Tai

Two of my favourites , I am lucky to have all of these model in my off roading. The Green Disco V8 with new Silver color paint to reminice Landrover 4x4 Experience Germany friends. What....no problem go out and play don't worry abt new paint. It was a good track to drive around for a day until it started to rain. Phew!! drivers face turns pale when the car make a spin on the slippery track and almost flipped. pht taken with a view cam so not really sharp still learning to fine tune it.

The Expedition LR-Travel sick
By Alyna Tai

Last weekend business trip i happened to be in Cameron. Knowing Don and Jen stil there i planned to have dinner with them but ended up going Gua Musang the next day with crazy Fei to see Rafflesia (day trip). Since is not a pre planned trip i rushed to get a pair of rubber addidas shoe which i never regret buying. It was a amazing steep hill trekking up for half an hour. U need a 4x4 vehcle to go to the foothill and also engage a aborigine to lead u where the Rafflesia could be found. The off road track is about 20 min with tough muddy trial and the climbing is even more tiring than i ever thought of. The continous uphill of half an hour with our ageing body and lower range gear also i punture. Over heating and stopping a few times is worth the effort. We later ended up at the Hot Spring and jumping into the river to cool our sweaty body.

Taman Negara Selai, Johor
By Abdul Rashid Isa

It was a day trip to the Johor-Selai National Park in the Endau-Rompin district done on the 25th of April by club member Alpha Romeo and his family. The trip was a recce to gather information for the planning of future venues for the club's activities.

Generally, the track is in good condition and the distance from the trail head to the campsite is about 32 KM. Any 4x4 vehicle with minimum of AT tyres should be able to cover the distance in 1 hour even if its raining.

The campsite, by the Selai River, is nice and clean with complete facilities for the campers. Many activities like fishing, trekking, tubing, waterfall swimming and much more can be arranged by the rangers at a small cost. Lastly, entrance is only permitted after registration at the park office in Bekok town.

Mid Life Crisis Trip 2
By Abdul Rashid Isa

Just a short weekend trip to Lata Kijang by Che Mat and Alpha Romeo on 28 Mac 2009. All was quiet on the Club front whilst the cars were getting restless parked in the garage for the whole week so we decided to take them for a run along the familiar offroad trail to flex their axles. There was a downpour on Saturday allowing us to have bit of fun playing in the mud but was caught out by the rising waters in the river. After waiting almost 2 hours for the water level to recede we had some excitement making the crossing with the winch deployed to avoid being swept away by the swift current. Some pics to share....

Kubu Mat Kilau
By Alyna Tai

Who is Mat Kilau? Check this out http://ms.wikipedia.org/wiki/mat_kilau.
Mat Kilau the malay warrior who fight the British in the 60's . The so called "Kubu Mat Kilau" or fort of Mat Kilau was found in the Pasir Raja area. The govt tried to promote the place for tourist purposes but no history was written there for people to know what's all about. 00 has been there many times and almost fully recce the whole place. We find it interesting to share with club members since we are around the area. There's more to explore if we have the time. The track entering to Mat Kilau was in good condition, only the 3 km towards the fort was really overgrown and a washout where the cement culvert have broken. We did not give up and oo decided to built a log bridge so that others also could go visit the fort. Late last year- the culvert is still in position only the soil was washed away until now nothing have been done. So dunno what they want to promote expecting people to go all the way and turn back. Even the Chengai Tree was at one time a big promotion and now nobody cares.

School holidays weekends trip
By Alyna Tai

Date 13th-16th March, Ulu Pernam-Tanjung Malim.
Rate@xmen00 Dusty, Alyna Lr 300, Rashid Customer Care, Che Mat Pajero, ET & Linda Disco and Dzaeman Puma. Both Rashid and Chemat left the next day for some function the rest stay on for another night. The next day two Red guard Lr went up to the waterfall with some good off roading. It took us 2 1/2 hr to reach the top with 3-4 times winching while another group of Mas Cargo boys with 4-5 suzuki, centipede with lift up suspension took them 5 hrs. One broke down before crossing the river and another being tow out bec of clutch problem after attempting the hill. There was another group lead by RFC marshal keranga who also went in on late saturday. They managed to camp up the hill and out the next day. A reminder to all to bring down their rubbish as there was a complaint of rubbish left behind by off roaders. The rainy season is unpredictable as we were breaking camp the rain started to pour. The track was slippery and water was rushing down the hill. All ends well as we reach the tarmac before dark. Procedure of going down hill one by one was observed and we have the best off roading. A bonus to new comer Dzaeman for the experience driving in the slippery hill with his new Puma.

By Alyna Tai

23rd- 29th Dec, 2008. Lrom members closes off 2008 book with a Adventure of a Lifetime. "One Life Live It" that's what they said after the trip. A trip among members lead by Rate De Silva@Atek xmen00 was well worth going. We were told to be prepared for this rainy season and crossing of 4 rivers that will make us fear most. All of us were brief that there's no timing what so ever or programme is a adventure trip. All of us were happy that we made it to the campsite have a good two nights camp at the destination with rain showering in a mist like snow. The G.Ais lift up to the name with so beautiful night and lots of tiger prints. Both Alyna, kavern and Atek had to shout for help as we went down river night fishing one night. We did not managed to cross in time when water rises so we have to shout for help. The current was too strong for us to take the risk. The whole group was superb with lots of hard work to make it to our destination with washed out track, bridge crossing, river crossing and landslide. Is the Journey and we also made it to the destination. They love every minute of it and also adventure of rising river crossing when coming out.Let's shared our experience. A big thank you for the dinner and Ice cream as reward by the members and friends for a good adventures.

Already suffered diarrohea for 2 days so surviving on maggee mee only for time being. Nevertheless despite all that we are enjoying every km of the journey. Wish you all are here. Telemong-Hard Core adventure
By Alyna Tai

A private trip among members and friends of LROM. Purpose to play in the rain and attempt to set up camp at the waterfall for the long weekends holidays. True enough as rocks are expose after all the rain and many cars that went through, we even have to clear a landslide and bamboo cuttings. The track was the best place for some who like to play with ruts and winching. Dusty 110 , lr 300, Chucky 110 and Adik SIII. The leaf spring did superbly well on this track.

The many request of going to distress during weekends eventhough is a rainy season and for some they just want to play. This time we did a private trips again to Sg Pernam/we named it Sg. Teratak. Nobody was there but someone left a new dumpsite which stinks. So we shift our campsite to the other side. The rain welcome us and we have to set up the fly sheet in the rain. LROM members and friends help out and in no time the big tent was put up. It rains the whole night and make the place much cooler than usual. The next day we meet the old gang of Tanjung Malim and PJ 4x4 boys again. check it out in the album of what is all about.

LROM - 51ST MERDEKA TRIP
By

The confirmed 8 cars turns out to be only 6 on that day. Yap couldn't make it cos of family matter and Pac Man who had a break down wth his newly acquired 109.

We started off from the copper mines in Sri Jaya after a night stay with a short brief of the plant by ET in the morning. The convoy left Sri Jaya heding for Mat Daling leaded by Rate De Silva@Xmen/00. The track was dusty until the rain came which were expecting. We were lucky that it was just a small downpour but that was enough to wake everyone up. The fun starts esp when decending down hill. It was a good drive with everyone looking alert. The only car having problem was Dusty driven by Rate when the engine mounting gave way almost reaching the campsite. We put on the strap and tow the car to the campsite. A small job of repair was done in no time. The next day was more fun when Rate put on the winch cable for everyone to have some fun. Catch all the fun in the photo gallery.

A weekend in Sg.Teratak
By Alyna Tai

A fun filled weekend organized during our TT in Shafiz as requested by members. The campsite was supposed to be booked earlier by a volunteer but turns out to be last to arrived. Lucky that there was no campers when we arrived maybe due to the raining season. What welcome us was an eye sore of rubbish strewn everywhere. Since we arrived early we decided to clean up a bit of the place. The following day a few groups came in for a fun off roading up the waterfall and also two C303 from the nearby resort ferrying passengers for joy ride across the river. A reminder to Campers PLEASE BRING YOUR RUBBISH OUT!!!!

Sg Teratak-
By Alyna Tai

This weekend trips did not turns up as expected by some members who said this is not "Light and Easy" ..Alyna. The proposed campsite was booked by early birds and further we were approach to camp across few days b4 event. Having seen how a Freelander crossing without a problem they wants us to camp across. True enough when we arived the whole campsite is taken over. We were greeted by smiles, camera, video on. Not having any choice we have to cross and find a campsite. But crossing a rocky river as shown seems to be not what i quoted as "Light and Easy". I must appologise to the members and not even knowing the track which we recce were beautiful are now with few muddy puddle because of moving Logging trucks. Next time i will try to provide info with weather report attached. Ha..ha.. Anyway thank you to all who make this trip possible and on behalf of the club i welcomes the 6 new members esp Lu Foo Siong (Volvo Axle King frm Tanjong Malim).

Taman Negara Expedition
By Abdul Rashid Isa

On 14th March 2008, our group comprising several members and friends of LROM went on an extended 4x4 trip in Taman Negara, Pahang. The 198 km route is following a loop entering at the Lepar oil palm plantation, passing through Kampung Mat Daling and then exiting at Kuala Tahan. Two days of exciting off-road driving with lots of fun and thrills. The radio frequency was constantly jammed up with desperate calls for help, unsolicited advice on diff locking/HDC, and songs of joy as we struggled past the numerous obstacles along the way. All in all we had an exhausting but wonderful weekend in the wilderness and wish to share the photos with you.

Rainforest World Music Festival 2007
By

The Best of the Best Music Fest???
Organizer: Sarawak Tourism Board. www.rzinforestmusic-borneo.com
This year we went in a group of 8 peoples, met Denzil in the same flight. Upon arriving bump into Yamin and family while shopping. To our surprise i spotted a guy with Lrom T.shirt at the front stage. Surprise it was Atan Aris who is also there as a official photographer.
This year 10th Anniversary seems to attract more people with a special enforcement of tight security. Security personnel at entrance gave a body scan and check most of the bags but was wondering why they don't check the white women next to us. Why??? We asked the security why she never check her and they just smile back. Hmmm...
Bottles are not allowed since bags are check but many were drinking whisky from bottles, wine etc during the performance. We have to get our "Tuak" in a different way this year. The show was great but the crowds are different from the previous years. This year crowd seems to go for wild party and rock concert so we join in too after paying so much money. We noticed too that Locals girls are spotted with bikinis and men topless. Maybe because this year is the 10th anniversary or could be the heat. Foreigners was well behave though.
We will reconsider to go again next year since the Penang will hold a similar concert but without "Tuak" La.

Karak-Perdak,
By Alyna Tai

Anyone gaming for this as no need to go to Elephant Mud hole. But be sure to bring along Tree Trunk Protector and not camp to near the river or between the two rivers. Water level rises if it rains. The beauty of This waterfall awaits you. Since we bring a standard car we trek down 15 - 20 min, after a swim and picnic trek back up in 20 mins. Phew!! don't stop just keep walking. Good to sweat it out and continue to go to another waterfall.

Jerantut Sg Salan 4x4 Challenge organized by a newly form group "Geharu 4x4" a sub group from Jerantut 4x4. Two LROM vehicles a Disco and Freelander PAC 8 couldn't stand the temptation and signed up for the standard class which have only 3 SS. Due to late information the Modified Class was a let down with no competitor turning up. The whole event lasted 2 days with lots of spectators from Felda Jenka. There was also bikes and cars racing. Since no competitors for Modified SS they open three bonus SS and all the standard class will compete and guess what? Both 1st and 2nd placing winner is Disco and Freelander for the Bonus SS. All the fierce vehicles came was fully equipped but all is for display with shining body, winch, snorkel and fierce bumper.

Series Trip to Johor

Series Trip - Malaysia nad Singaporean
By Alyna Tai

The Series Kutu trip - Last weekends we drove down to Segamat to meet the group of Series enthusiast from Singapore for a weekend off roading trip. Gary of LROS supposed to be the organizer but the track that he proposed in Kota Tinggi was barricaded so we decided to go Cenderawsih (Kem Sebarau). We travel over 250km to meet up with 7 series Landrover in Segamat. Our convoy 3 Series III from Malayan Safaris and Yamin's Ambulance. All 14 of us started our journey on Friday late night and reaches Segamat early in the morning. The Singapore arrived early than us. The track was good except some obstacle of bridge being washed off and lots of fallen trees. The Jinx started to appear after two of the SIII having the similar problem of front wheel bearing and broken studs needed to be changed. Then Hakim poke his own eyes accidentally during repairs with a plier, Shah's run over his handphone, Anbar's coming with spareparts had his car bang and Hafiz having sounds coming from gear box while driving back. We toke 2 days after coming out of jungle to come back KL because of all the Xfiles. But it was a fun filled trip with the Singapore Series enthusiast. The Lightweight have a break down in Yong Peng and had to be toll back to JB. While stopping in Ulu Bendol we met the Expedition group Dave Crochrane and German Couple Frand and susan. Shah decided to buy 3 Ultraman as Atek said possible to "buang the suai" and tied in on the landy. It really works i guess as we got home safely without anymore breakdown. Ultraman our savior. :-)

Adventure of a different kind after RFC2005
By Alyna Tai

The Range Rover (Jedi) and Frontier (Samurai) courtacy of "Edaran Tan Chong" went back to rescue LR 110 Lemon in the jungle of Trengganu. Arrived there in late afternoon with beautiful clear blue sky but the sight of the water marks tells us the whole place was just flooded. The river bank water mark was above the bank and the everywhere is soggy with mud. Always check the river level before crossing, so a long branch stick act as a measurement. It was above 9ft of water with water flowing fast. We decided to wait camping further up, the wating turns to be 8 days straight with no sunlight except rain. Either up stream raining or drizzle the whoe day. We move in to a nearby "Kongsi" since all the loggers are gone because of the Monsoon season until february. The water reside by 2-3inches but up again by feet so we decided there's no way for us to reach lemon. While waiting we did some recce for alternative but in vain. A different thing arises when fishing enthusiast arrived to get "kelah" (Red) which was abundance during Monsoon season.

The Believer and Followers

Met 2 Elderly Man wth LRSS3 88" which they bought for 2K, did nothing to the car and just drive. They live life the fullest with what they enjoy doing. They daringly drove the car believing the LR is the best mode of transport in jungle since it is a "German" made car said the elder Chinese Man. If u notice the vehicle have 3 different size tyres (bald too) on it with no winch. They even carry a self made boat for fishing. Cool...

Pictures of my trip which I tagged along with Robby Consunji in Phillipines with some very keen 4X4 newcomers who were participating in an offroad clinic conducted by a gentleman by the name of Deeboy. Deeboy, Robby, and the other Land Rover enthusiasts I met, Denis, Marvin and Manny are extremely passionate of everything 4X4 to the extent of living right next to a scenic valley and plateau (Tanay) where one can just jump into one's 4X4 and go offroading theer and then. There is everything, deep ruts, river crossings, sand, etc not to mention some interesting large birds on their land some which I have never seen before.

Also picture is a shot of a Series 4 proudly made in Phillipines.

Fishing trip to Ulu Trengganu Sg Trengganu Mati
By

Four fishing enthusiast of LROM - A sudden decision to go fishing to Ulu Trengganu turns out to be a great adventure for the foursome. Two vehicles with MT tyres, a LC and LR110 with two wheels (diff lock not working) went all the way to Kg Lalok where we had our last refill and ration. From here we have to go through a total of 87km of off road to reach Ulu Sg. Trengganu Mati.

The track was unpredictable as certain part we have to winch. Problem came as "Plastic Man" Hong PTO winch cable snap couple of time and our 110 8274 winch gave up on a gully. The winch brake broke with all the seams and bearing pouring out in the mud. We have fun going through the mud pool and all the gullies using whatever Rate could think of (Mc Gyver style). Since it was a fun trip we totally forgot to bring along the "Changkul" and ground anchor as part of our recovery items was in our other cars.

As we were doing all the winching we saw many fresh paws prints around and all the fresh dung of Elephants along the track. The place still belongs to the wild. We came across a skeletal of Elephants in a ditch which we suspect is the work of Porcher.

By the time we reached the campsite it was dark and all was tired. Our friends who arrives one day ahead of us greeted us near the campsite. Morning was greated by calls of the wild, Squirrel running around and surprising we were lucky to see a Orang utan (Red fur) swinging around this part of jungle.
Beautiful waterfall and rivers still full of "kelah".

Take a look in the picture how the ground Anchor was done and how the winch brake was repair with substitude. Hong's cable was also done up by Rate as rain came heavily the night before we leave the place. As to get out of the campsite we have to go through a long uphill track that most probably need winching. A worried "Crocodile" Chong turns to a smile after we have our winch back in action.

A one day trip as requested to Sg. Dua on 9/06/2002. It was a last minute thing and further with Janda winch having problem back from recce we try to go as far into the track. We had to do winching once with alternative of using Hi lift jack. We are lucky it was Sunny day. Mr. Robin Pritchard and Elizabeth was so facinated with our M'sian forest and the beautiful waterfall. He had his hand on winching and requested to drive Janda2.
