My 10th Years with Lrom
Ever since getting into LROM it’s no turning BACK we named it the LR POISON with no cure. The car it self means a never ending stories of so much tales, adventures, experience, sweat and tears. I never got tired of it because it’s a LANDROVER THING with a character esp the Icon of a Series or Defender. In Cantonese they called it “LAN –ROVER” means broken Landrover or better still “Ny Na Woo” in Hokkien means Your Mother. Never mind what people called it but to me is a Landrover.

Having many experience plus adventure with LROM, I cherish every moment with the Club member . All the Club meeting, club trips, Expeditions, Tsunami rescue, Charity, Silverstone Jamboree, Fun Challenge, Parade, Off road Clinic etc. I kept thousand of memories and never bored to bring out once in a while to enjoy with friends of all the collections. All the collections except the photos from my 10 yrs off roading will be for sales and money goes to charity for the orphanage in Malaysia.

We have our fair part of adventure even sleeping beside a road not knowing someone will come open stall. Never mind we could have our nasi lemak (B&B) on the camp bed in front of the stall. Sometime waiting for the guy means you can boil water make coffee and also cook maggi mee. But they always managed to get it running again because is a Landrover . Owning a old Landrover is no ending stories. Still one after another I continue to collect.

Many a times the excitement and adventures of getting into hardcore moment that I think most will have to start saying prayer of not getting out of the jungle. Frankly I never really worried because is the people (the Landrover friends) that I have confident since my first trip with them.

LROM published trip for beginners 6/6/98, I called up a Ms Vicky but it turns out to be a Mr. Vicky. Never mind he asked how many are coming. I said I am bringing 4 girls and am driving a Imported version Prado LC. I have a funny thing in front of bumber with cable and some button which I dunno what’s for, I want to learn. Well, could hear the boys very happy and said good…good.. come we meet in Gombak. Everything goes find until the day we supposed to go out. Heavy rain came non stop and all of us are stuck at the hill bottom. The boy with the LR was on hill top trying to winch all the standard big cars in the rain. A night camp turns out to be two unexpectedly. I have never seen these people work and they work throughout the night trying to winch all the standard car up the hill with their Series Landy and PTO winch. I was very impressed with these guys esp Ah Soon, Sly , Vicky, Reduan, Atek and other friends. They are incredible and you could feel the sense of confident with these guys. Who really are these people? They took the responsibility of our safety and of course very concern of my 4 ladies friend too. This Poison works fast as I bought a SIII 88 after that and the boy works day and night to get it ready for recce. The LROM boy was recommended by Yamin to go as recce team for International Rain Forest Challenge 98. That’s the start of my Landrover fantastic 10 years with Club. Thank you very much to LROM.
